ROUTES AND INFORMATION
14181 East 126th St.
The Give Hope Ride has returned to Olio Fields this year. It's just east of Hamilton Southeastern High School on the south side of the street. The new start has given us an opportunity to discover some new roads and towns for the Memorial Day ride. We've managed to include some of the favorite roads including the cruise by Geist reservoir and Main Street in Cicero. That's right. Big Dog Smokehouse BBQ is on board and ready to keep the tradition going. Don't forget - Helmets are required.
CRUISER RIDE - 10 MILES
SHORT AND SWEET is sometimes the best way to do a ride like this. It’s a doable distance with just a few ups and downs to challenge your legs. If you’re pulling a baby buggy or your older kids want to ride along this could be the ride for you. No fancy bikes or bike shorts required. This ride takes you through Gray Eagle, Sandstone Village and beautiful Hamilton Proper. You do need to wear a helmet. RideWithGPS Link and Printable Cue Sheet available 5/24/19 right here.
SHORT RIDE - 20 MILES
All riders will start with the short ride. We've managed to retain all the scenic views from last year and add a spin through Fortville. Watch for boats when you cross Geist Reservoir on Fall Creek and Olio Road. If you’re feeling peppy at that point you may want ad on the medium or long ride. As always, helmets are required. MEDIUM RIDE - 44 MILES
This part of the ride is totally different from last year. After doing the short ride you'll be able to 'take five" at Olio Fields before you head out. Look for the apple orchard on the way out before you get to quaint Pendleton. You may consider stopping for a donut. The ride takes you by the golf course and the home of some of our less savory citizens. Lick Creek hill with give you a little kick before you get done. Don't forget your helmet. LONG RIDE - 63 MILES
People comer from far and wide to do this route. No it's not because it's of the beautiful Indiana country side. No, it's not because of the views of Morse Reservoir. And, no, it's not because of the beautiful downtown Cicero. It's because Big Dog Smokehouse Barbecue is the SAG stop in Cicero. Chris and Cheryl Faulkner open their beautiful restaurant and provide tasty treats for all Give Hope Ride registrants for free. You gotta have a helmet.
